About CFU Book
CFU Book is a free options trade journal made by Cash Flow University, an options trading education and community platform. It does not connect to a brokerage and never places an order, so you log your own trades. It is a record keeping tool.
What CFU Book does
Each trade keeps its legs, with the strike, expiration, price and number of contracts for each leg.
- Open trades and closed trades both show a P&L.
- You set one income goal, weekly, monthly or annual. The dashboard shows what you have realized, how much is left and how many days remain.
- CFU Book shows the most you could lose on your open positions. When you log a spread, it shows the most you can lose before you save.
- Alerts cover expiration, profit targets and earnings. The FAQ says when each one appears.
- CFU Book can email you a weekly summary and a monthly summary. You switch each one on or off in Profile, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
- The Performance screen shows your results for the last week, month, three months, year to date or all time, next to Cash Flow University's results for the same period.
- You can export your closed trades to a CSV file from the Closed list on the Portfolio screen. Open trades are not in the file. The columns are Ticker, Strategy, Opened, Closed, Duration, P&L, Return on Risk and Rolls.
What it costs
CFU Book is free. There is no card, no trial and no paid tier. Cash Flow University also runs a paid trade alert service at joincfu.com. You do not need it to use CFU Book.
Strategies you can log
You can log eleven strategies: long call, long put, cash secured put, covered call, buy stock, PMCC, call credit spread, put credit spread, call debit spread, put debit spread and iron condor. PMCC stands for poor man's covered call. The wizard lists put credit spread, covered call and cash secured put first, and the other eight sit under More strategies.
| Strategy | What you enter |
|---|---|
| Long call | One bought call |
| Long put | One bought put |
| Cash secured put | One sold put |
| Covered call | One sold call. The shares are not a leg, and you can save a cost basis with the trade |
| Buy stock | A lot of shares and the price you paid |
| PMCC | A bought call far out and a sold call near, each with its own expiration |
| Call credit spread | A sold call and a bought call |
| Put credit spread | A sold put and a bought put |
| Call debit spread | A bought call and a sold call |
| Put debit spread | A bought put and a sold put |
| Iron condor | A sold put, a bought put, a sold call and a bought call |
